Top 10

Are you playing along with our Got Talent Challenges?  This is my week to host the challenges.  The main challenge went up on Monday to create a page of a top 10.  This could be about you or anyone else as long as the numbers really stood out on your page.  For the challenge I made one of my oldest son, well I decided I couldn't stop there. I used to try to make these every year but got out of the habit.  Here is a page I created with Autumn's top 10 using Fancy Pants What a Wonderful Day collection.  It has surprised me how hard they have had in coming up with 10 favorite things of theirs.

Here you can see how I used the the bold color of the numbers to make them stand out.

Hope you will come play along with us. You have until Sunday night to get your page up to be eligible for the weekly prize. And make sure you check out the mini challenge I put up today to.

What Does the Fox Say?

Hello and good morning...

I know you have all heard that song... What Does the Fox Say by now, if not, well you escaped quite the song craze.

For one of the daily challenges in the My Scraps forum, I gave the challenge to use a song title for your layout title and then to actually add an animal on your page somewhere- whether through a photo or embellie or paper. I used October Afternoon's Public Library collection for this layout.

For Easter the kids each got a fox Easter basket, so the photos were perfect.. along with the fox on the actual journal cards from the OA collection.

I used the fun mixed colored font Thickers on the layout, along with some of the OA mini alphas and then added some doodling around each letter so they didn't get lost on the page.

So check out the Public Library, not the one near your house, but in the My Scraps store...  it's a wonderful line and has lots of adorable critters on it.

Thanks sooo much for stopping by and have a great day!!!

Vegas! featuring Echo Park

Happy Friday, friends!  Missy here with a layout to share :)

The minute I saw this GORGEOUS bokeh paper from Echo Park's Capture Life collection, I knew I had to use it for some of our Las Vegas photos!  When I think of Vegas, I think of lights, bling and lots of color, so that's what I went for with this page.  I used one of the July sketches from Stuck?! sketches.  This was created for a forum challenge earlier this week to use some glitter and something shiny on a layout.

I usually use a lot of mixed media products on my layouts, but this background paper is just too gorgeous to cover.  I pulled out several patterns of paper for all the triangles but left the background the way it was.  I popped up a few of the triangles and my photos to give some dimension.  I did add a few splatters of gold Color Shine at the end.

I wanted to make sure I added some glitter and some shiny elements, like this gold thread.  I also used gold embossing powder on these cute little stars.

I found a package of these cute arrow paper clips on clearance at Hobby Lobby a few months ago.  I think it adds a great touch here!  And my glitter powder did make a bit of a mess, but I like it.  When I think of Vegas, I think of glitter everywhere, so it goes with the theme...haha!

These alphas are perfect for my big bold title.  I added in a little Heidi Swapp stamp and a few of the EP stickers.

We'd love to have you come join in all the fun over on the boards!  Lots of challenges to choose from and lots of prizes to be won :)  I hope this inspires you to use a background paper that is just too pretty to cut up as well as some glitter and shine!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Mixing it Up!

I will admit I'm the worst about mixing manufacturerers, at least with paper that is.  I can throw all kinds of embellishments on there but my paper tends to always come from one line.  A while back I got this paper from Carta Bella knowing I had some horse pictures and it was really cute.  The problem I had was while the pink was quite bold and the teal embellies were quite bold the teal that was in the paper was quite muted.  I really don't feel it matched very well.  So I pulled out these papers from Simple Stories Color Vibe collection and added them into the line.

Here is what I created by mixing the two collections.

In the close up you can see how well the colors worked with the embellishments and helped make the page pop.

This Place

Happy Wednesday!
Lisa here today to share a layout I created of my son at the fair on a ride with a bunch of his friends. I can't take credit for the photo, since I snagged it off his Facebook page.
I used Fancy Pants Everyday Circus for this fun layout:

Swim Time.

Hello and good morning...

I have to say, I am SUCH a sucker for scrapping anything summer related. It always just makes me happy. I scrapped this photo of my little one swimming with her uncle. He was so good with her, and he and my sister gave me some much needed laying out time at the pool while they took her for a swim.

I used the Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine line for the page.
I went circle crazy with my sewing to added some texture on the white circle, and then added some OA alphas for my title work, they have GOT to be my all time fave mini alphas...

I also used several of the sticker elements from the collection and stitching around the whole page:

Thanks sooo much for stopping by and have a great day....

Birthday Fun with Jillibean Soup

Happy Friday, friends!  Missy here with you today :)  Have you been over to the My Scraps Sketch Blog today?  There's a new sketch up, and this is the layout I created using it.

Sometimes I don't know where my ideas come from.  I saw the sketch and started browsing through my photos.  I always have a lot of birthday pictures, so I picked four that featured my daughter with various family members.  I decided to use some of the Birthday Bisque line from Jillibean Soup.  I love bright colors, so this one was perfect.  I mostly used the stamps from this collection...oh my goodness are they awesome!

I used the big numbers stamp to create the background.  I used watercolors to paint in each number to created a rainbow effect.  I love how it turned out!  The yellow background sheet was a random sheet from my stash, and I drew the long rectangles, outlined them with black pen, and used gelatos to give some colorful smudgy shadows.  The rest is bits and pieces from JS...and more of their stamps.

I just love the nickels and sticker buttons!  And the bits and pieces contain lots of fun arrows.  So great for layering and adding interest.

More stamping, buttons, arrows....and my title.  I cut "birthday" on my Cameo and watercolored it blue.  The yellow "Fun" is the JS Beanboard Alphas.

Here's one more close up of the other side of the layout.  More fun goodies!  I tell you, the stamps were so much fun to use here.  You can really get creative and created your own embellishments and/or backgrounds.

Be sure to check out today's sketch as well as the My Scraps Store!  It's still full of goodies, and SO MUCH MORE is on its way!  You won't want to miss out on what's coming :)

Have a GREAT weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

My Beauty

Last year we had such a wonderful opportunity when the broadway musical Beauty and the Beast came to town.  Autumn and I made a girls night of it and I think watching the look on her face throughout the show was just as fun as actually watching the show.  I used Fancy Pants Me-ology to create this page of the snapshot we took from the night. No photos allowed of the performance so we settled for one with the program.  You can't tell in the pictures but she made sure she was wearing her Beauty and the Beast flip flops.

Here is a close-up of some of the great elements that come with this collection.

Beach Love

Hello and good morning...

I can't believe it's already July 15!!!! I am such a summer chick I don't want summer to end at all. I scrapped this photo of my lil one at the beach, taken over spring break. The water was still pretty cold, but the older kids weren't shy about going in the water, but my lil one stayed back with me on the sand, and she built sand castles.

I used the Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine line which I have completely fallen in love it. I want to take more summer photos, just to use up the line.

I used several sticker elements as embellies through out the page:

and created my own banner with fussy cut pennants and stitching:

I honestly love the slightly rustic feel of it with the Woodgrain paper and  the realistic Blue Skies paper.

So in case you haven't checked out the collection, you totally NEED it... really!!!! There are also lots of solid papers that go with the collection to tone things down also.

Thanks sooo much for stopping by and have a great day
